About the New Life Church Men's MAFIA Ministries:

“…but among you it should be quite different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must become your slave. For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:26-28 (NLT)

2009 MAFIA Olympics Round-up!

Greetings all Hitmen,

What a night we all had at the old campus last evening.  The NLC Greater Little Rock MAFIA held its 2nd Annual MAFIA Olympics – and we had a great time.  As John Craft was not able to be with us due to prior obligations, the event was MC’d by our very own Bobby Wilson.  The competition was spirited and closer in the end than we expected early on in the evening.

The Bagg-O completion, Basketball Shoot-Out and Precision Putt-Off rounded out the team skill events. And while they proved pretty interesting to watch, nothing worked the guys into a greater frenzy than the Human Tractor Pull (aka: Bungie Run)!  The competition was pretty fierce from the beginning with some come from behind shows late in the games but in the end it proved to be the team with the greatest stamina and will to win that prevailed under the grueling physical, emotional and culinary stresses of the Speed Hot Dog Eating Contest!

It was this sports fans greatest pleasure to be involved with the 2009 MAFIA Olympics.  Winning this year’s event with a composite score of 98.0 was team,  Rickey “The Sausage” Bezet.  Team Bezet was led by MAFIA Captain Matt Rush, who was last year’s Grand Champion in the 2008 MAFIA Bagg-O Tourney.  Rounding out Team Bezet were Co-Captain Elliott Carr Rodney Lehman, Christian Slais, Rodney Blackwell and Jason Washam.  One point that should be noted, Team Bezet’s stellar performance was hampered by their dismal show in the Precision Putt-Off, will the real Rick Bezet please stand up!  All the teams did great and had a great time.  The Remaining Teams faired as follows:
